Katie Vogel EP

10/3/25

With two decades of musical offerings from duo Relatives, shoegaze band Mushfoot, and a self-released EP, Make Space, under her name in 2020, Katie Vogel’s body of work is tied together by intuition and sharp angles, a crystal clear voice often over crunchy chords and sideways song structures, with moments of dissonance held gently to breaking point. Her new self-titled EP is a continuation of her unmistakable songwriting, co-produced by Grey Albert (Spite Fuxxx, Mike Mok and the Em Tones, formerly Really Big Pinecone, Hushpuppy) who also recorded, mixed, and contributed backing instruments. The 6 tracks of the EP dart between the sparkling dissonance of Linda Perhacs, warm chug of the Breeders, the lower Manhattan haunt of Suicide, and the new wave shimmer of Strawberry Switchblade - but all are firmly rooted in the same universe.

Several of the songs were built around original demo tracks, piled high with noisy guitars, then all were ultimately transferred to tape and mastered by John Dieterich (Deerhoof). “Some of these songs are political - written while a lot of scary things were going on, the election, the genocide in Gaza, NYC getting more and more expensive and stretched thin. Of course, these things were on my mind. On the other hand, there are love songs on this album - about letting a partner witness your daily routines and struggles and letting them be there for you. And some songs are about my beloved home on the Lower East Side,” says Vogel.

P'derrigerreo - The G is Soft

Coming Good Friday 4/18/25

P'derrigerreo originally began a decade ago between friends G Foley and Pierre Plantevin, who performed dadaist skits as Gee'erre. Rhythm section Dara and Theo hopped on and guitarist Chris was recruited from a flyer left in the graphic novel section of the local library. Soon, a band was born, with contributions from Nicole, Gla, and Clara. Dirges, messes, soundscapes, cacophony. Everyone switching instruments between songs. Members of this band live strewn across the states, meeting up for meandering cross country tours, including a 2018 tour of Texas with heroes Being Dead. The group has 4 releases to date; most recently, "Live in (a) Basement" was released on Baltimore label Spleencoffin.

In March of 2020, a tour was cancelled and G and Pierre unexpectedly moved in together in Connecticut. The upcoming record The G is Soft (referring to the pronunciation of P'derrigerreo, an amalgamation of the names of the members of the band) is one of three records made during this period of cohabitation, in which the two developed and recorded a huge backlog of ideas nearly every day, between spells of G’s berry-gathering. This record is the band's most straightforward songwriting after a catalogue of more dense, experimental noise and sound collage, and it's electrifying, playful, saccharine, violent, irreverent, and falling apart at the seams.
